About Project
KCS is South Korea's only dedicated credit rating agency for individual business owners.
As a licensed cloud-based (AWS) credit service provider, KCS launched a service called Credit Note.
Upon signing up for Credit Note, we can collect detailed metrics such as sales, number of employees, rent, and loans from each user's business. We began by considering how to use this information to provide valuable services to business owners.

Challenge
The challenge I faced was delivering insights into users' financial performance and comparisons effectively on small screens.
‍In line with the trend of increasing young entrepreneurs in Korea and the design aesthetics of Korean financial apps, the challenge lay in striking a balance between visually appealing imagery and maintaining trustworthiness.
I had to tackle the task of creating marketing videos and all accompanying visuals simultaneously, ensuring they resonated with our target audience while upholding credibility.

User Research
Executed comprehensive user survey and interview to accurately identify user needs and determine the content that would best satisfy these requirements.
Based on our process, we concluded that comparing and analyzing businesses effectively fulfills user needs by providing crucial insights for optimizing their operations. Additionally, we developed detailed personas to ensure our solutions are tailored to the specific needs and behaviors of our target users

Interested in analyzing transaction volumes by time of day and day of the week to optimize menu pricing and specials.
Finds the paperwork for getting loans very complicated.
In early 2023, a law in South Korea was changed to allow small business loans to be based on business credit as well as personal credit, which previously was the only requirement.
We also found that in 2022, coinciding with COVID-19, there was a 50,000 increase compared to the last year in entrepreneurship among people in their 20s and 30s, who mainly started businesses in non-face-to-face and trend-focused sectors such as cafes, dessert shops, and online stores.

Interview
Q.
What are new business owners curious about?
  • Which industries are thriving the most in the neighborhood?
  • What are the key factors that make specific industries perform well?
  • What is the ratio of sales to rent for stores with properties?
  • Which areas are recovering sales the fastest?
  • Will a higher deposit result in higher sales?
  • How many part-time employees should I hire?
  • Which areas have the best sales efficiency?
  • How much should I price my items to achieve optimal sales?
As part of our design exploration, we aimed to identify critical opportunities for supporting new and existing business owners. Our approach centered around understanding the evolving needs of entrepreneurs, particularly those navigating the challenges of recent economic shifts and regulatory changes.
